The spring winds that bring the threat of desertification to north eastern China, depositing sand and dirt as the Gobi desert creeps eastwards towards Beijing, (although judging by the state of my apartment, that seems to be its first target), also makes for perfect kite weather.
A windy spring day sees parks and areas of wasteland packed with eager kite flyers. On my visit to People's Park I bought myself a rather splendid butterfly kite, and I'm waiting for the current cold snap to end (it has snowed this week!) and spring to recommence so I can try it out.
Kites looks so fun! We tried when our children were younger, but somehow it didn't work out properly.
ReplyDeleteI love kites! I try to buy myself a unique kite every year for my birthday. Sadly, the last 15 years of kites got lost in a flood. I'll be starting over this year! Love that top photo of the flags/kite.. just makes me want to fly!
ReplyDeleteI love kites, and August is the best time for us in Argentina, it's a very windy month
ReplyDeleteLovely photo with the red flags. Flying a kite instantly takes you back to your youth.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots! I love kites, too, they are perfect for the "K" day!
